Dutch Kills’ ‘Most Wanted’: Pablo Escobar
Escobar, 22, was walking past the Won Won Laundromat at 30-08 36th Avenue at about 6:15 a.m. on August 12 when he spotted a young girl inside, wearing a gold chain around her neck, police said.
Surveillance footage recovered by detectives at the 114th Precinct shows Escobar lunging into the laundromat moments later, where he snatched the gold chain from around the neck of the 4-year-old girl and ran from the scene.
The child was not injured in the robbery, police said.
Escobar has a long history of arrests, many drug-related, police sources said. He is known to frequent the Ravenswood and Queensbridge Housing Projects and the Dutch Kills Playground at 36th Avenue and Crescent Street, police sources said.
“He likes to go around bragging that he has the same name as a drug lord who got killed,” a resident of the Ravenswood Houses said. “He likes to make people think he can be as bad as that guy, but he’s just a chump who steals from a little girl.”
Police are urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of Pablo Escobar to call the CrimeStoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS or click on www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.—Liz Goff
